Stephanie Sanders Sullivan is an American diplomatic and the current ambassador to Ghana. She served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central African Affairs and Security Affairs for the Bureau of African Affairs from January 2017 to November 2018.
Ambassador Sullivan was Chief of staff to the Deputy Secretary of State for management and resources from 2011 - 2013. She was Previously managing Director of the office of management policy, rightsizing, and innovation. She served multiple tours in the Executive Secretariat operation center, the State Departments 24/7 briefing and crisis management center, as Director (2008 - 2010; Deputy Director (2002 - 2003) and watch Officer (1988 - 89) and in the white House Situation Room(1989-90).
The U.S Ambassador to Ghana, Stephanie commemorated 'Green Ghana Day' by planting a lignum vitae tree on the U.S Embassy grounds on the June 11,2021.
This tree is commonly referred to as the 'tree of life's due to its traditional medicinal use As a remedy for coughs, arthritis and others. She also Lauched a tree nursery at the embassy for indigenous and non-native species to contribute to our collective efforts to reforest Ghana with Rich and diverse trees that provide vital products and amenities, including quality habit for wild life, biodiversity of Plants and animals communities that form a vital part of the ecosystem and recreational opportunities. She now looks forward to working with Ghanaians to support policies and program that restore and conserve forests and water bodies, stop illegal logging, mining (galamsey) , fishing ( illegal, unreported, 'unregulated fishing please and plastic pollution.
